Yeastar S100 is a powerful IP-PBX that can control VoIP telephony for 100 users and 30 concurrent calls. Using a modular design, the S100 lets you choose what ports you get so that the PBX will match the needs of your particular deployment. It works like this: the S100 has space for two expansion boards. There are two options for expansion boards. The EX30 Expansion Board gives you one E1/T1/PRI port for digital telephony. The EX08 Expansion Board has eight RJ11 ports and four module slots. For each EX08 board you install, you can add four of the following modules:
- S2 Module: 2 FXS (analog)
- O2 Module: 2 FXO (analog)
- SO Module: 1 FXS / 1FXO (analog)
- B2 Module: 2 BRI (digital)
- GSM Module: 1 GSM (cellular)
- 3G Module: 1 UMTS (cellular)
Note that the S100 only has six antenna sockets so that you can install a maximum of six GSM/3G cellular modules across the two expansion boards.
The modular nature of the S100 goes further: you can also install one D30 Module to expand the number of users and calls that the IP-PBX can control. The D30 Module gives you control for 100 more users and 30 more concurrent calls.
Yeastar S100 uses an industrial-grade quad-coreFreescale chip with Texas Instruments DSP (digital signal processor) and dual Gigabit Ethernet ports to provide fast, clear communications. The Yeastar VoIP phone system includes extensive PBX support for functions like video calls, voicemail to email, one-touch recording, caller ID, automated attendant, and many more. Using the TLS and SRTP transport protocols and the integrated internal firewall, you can secure your communications, even as you bring mobile users into your office’s phone system using the Linkus Mobile Client for Android and iOS. S100 is 1U rack-mountable.

The S100 phone system from Yeastar Information Technologies is the next evolution of the company’s PBX platform, and with this release, the company aims to go way upmarket. This solution and the S-Series as a whole provides an array of components and new features that should help Yeastar differentiate itself in the marketplace to win more and larger customers.
Affordability, dependability, performance, and security are among the values of the S-Series. The unit under test has an MSRP of $999. The products come with a three-year warranty, which is certainly industry-leading. These solutions were designed with the future in mind.
You might be tempted to think this low-cost solution skimps somewhere. We,however, couldn’t find any skimping. Consider, for example, the industrial quality Freescale CPU (the i.MX 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 Quad Core) to handle the places people tend to put PBXs like warm closets, oil rigs, and warehouses and factories. The DDR3 1GB RAM is supplied by Samsung; the 8GB flash memory by Toshiba. And the Molex connectors have gold plating three times thicker than industry standards.
“These systems have the huge capability in performance and are designed to last, with the capacity to add new functions, and whatever services in the future the industry will throw at us,” says Stephen Corrigan, vice president of sales at Yeastar.
The power adapters, supplied by MeanWell, feature an impressive mean time between failures of more than 560,000 hours, which equates to nearly 64 years. The company also upgraded the flash memory sizes, allowing the PBX to be upgraded significantly via software.
“The build quality and the components we’ve used are unlike anything out there,” Corrigan says.
The unit can support 100 users as well as 30 concurrent calls while an upgrade allows it to expand to 200 users and 60 concurrent calls. The system supports SMS as well as bulk SMS messaging. It runs Asterisk, and call recording is free. There is GSM support, which can help in failover situations – and support is unlimited to dealers/resellers/VARs/MSPs. Some phone types are supported, and we can expect more apps and phones to work with the PBX in the future.
